Thanks once again for all the great reports in last week's GAME CENTRAL - Okay to Brag.

I am so impressed with all the amazing performances by pitchers and hitters! And then there's OUBsbMom's son Ryan who amazes me by exceling at both. Loved the reports about off-field fine efforts, too (ASU RAM FAN etc.).

Perfect Game has added weekly updates to their WHO'S HOT list for HS players.

Keep the reports coming!

Both of my boys went yard tonight. My 10 year old got his first home run (grand slam and on his B-day) while I was at older son's game. While Dad, Grandparents, and other brothers got to see it, I got to hear it over the phone Smile. Older son (12) hit his 6th of the year just after the younger one, while hubby got to listen to it on his end of the phone. Thank goodness for cell phones!!!!
Chris finally did it. GRAND SLAM HOME RUN. His first ever. None in Little League, Junior League, Senior League, High School or Americian Legion. Second time up, bases loaded [2 walks and an error] against a hard throwing pitcher with the score 1-0 [Chris, leading off the game, had scored the first run for the Raiders in the first inning] he took the first pitch over the center field fence. Broke the game wide open and we won in 4 1/2 innings.

Ain't baseball great.

TOP UTILITY PLAYER: JEFF TAYLOR, Heritage. Taylor was extraordinary, reaching base in all 12 plate appearances, catching in games one and three while playing shortstop in game two. Batted .889 (8 for 9) with six runs and two stolen bases, and showed true leadership on the field.

CO-MVP'S: Dustin Crouch, Amherst County and Jeff Taylor, Heritage.

Older son; Still leads league in ERA and K's. won his last game 4-0 giving up 3 hits. Went 3 for 3 with 2rbi's Cool.
Youngest; Top of the first, playing third a hard grounder down the line he steps, backhands the ball ala Brooks Robinson and rifles the ball across the diamond for the out.
Bottom half of the same inning he hits a low line drive over the centerfield fence for a 2 run HR clap. On his next at bat he hits one to almost the identical spot, just as hard, but the Centerfielder has his butt against the fence and catches the ball about head high without having to take a step! dazeda.
Would have been a inccredible day had he hit the ball 5' in either direction.

After 25 months and 12 complete games, including a 3 hitter, 2 4 hitters, 2 5 hitters and 2 6 hitters, Junior has finally won another HS game. Lost his no-no in the 6th, and uncharacteristically walked 2 guys, but after a minor detour in the bottom of 7th [3B airmailed 1B on a full count, with 2 out], Junior got the next guy to hit it to him, thus ending a LOOOOONG drought. Oh what a relief it is!!
Wood - been plenty of that the last 2 years - the old :Life lessons" talk went stale about midway thru his soph year, and I ran out of ideas. It finally just became: "Do your job -- throw quality strikes, keep walks to a minimum, field your position and maintain composure" I'm proud of him that he has pretty much done that; it hasn't been easy.
Tonight 2-3 3-run HR 5rbi's his 9th HR of the season. With three games left in the regular season he is hitting .508 . He has thrown out 7-9 attempted base stealers in our 21 games played. No past balls the entire season and no errors. With three games left he is only two homeruns away from tying the school record (11) set by former South Granville great Donald Timberlake drafted by the Cal Angels in 1981. HR's do not come cheap at our field. 325' down the lines 370' to the alleys and 385' to cf. Its been a blast this year.
Rob thanks. Actually he rarely sees anything to hit now. Were in the second time through the conference and he is either intentionally walked or just pitched around most of the time. Every once in awhile they have had to pitch to him. He is hitting in the five hole because our 3-4 are very good as well but Jeff seems to be able to handle the breaking stuff a little better and is a little more patient. The way he is getting pitched has really helped him become a more patient hitter actually. Again thanks for the kind words.

That's awesome for both of the Bystanders! Congratulations to them. And YOU!

I am hesitant to even post this on the brag section because my son is so modest about his achievements, but he has pitched 51 innings this year, struck out 96, walked 16 and had 12 hits. Best part Zero ERA. Only 3 runs have scored against him this year. Like he says, we have a very good team and it takes a team. Our team is 15 and 0 and ranked #1 in our state.
