People of Illinois need to thank me for geeting the season going. See, in the previous 3 seasons we (HP)NEVER were able to play a game this early. I needed to do a trip to LA to do a presentation. I could either do it today or next month, so I chose today. I booked my return flight to get home in time to see the HP vs. Libertyville game on Thursday. Sure 'nuf it was (wisely) moved to today.4 good hurlers squared up as Barton started for LHS and Menke for HP. Menke was removed after 3 (got a bit wild I guess) and trailed 1-0. However, I called as the 5th inning started in which HP rallied for the 3 runs. The guys would not let me off the phone until the inning ended. Kopp threw 4 innings of shutout relief to bag the win. Great to get the season going. My wife filmed it, so I'll watch it Thursday.
That big inning was wrapped up and given on a silver plate to HP. The seond basemen dropped a pop up and then Barton walked a man. McDowell came in with 2nd and 3rd in a 1-1 game and threw a wild pitch to make it 2-1. The third run was on a fielder choice I believe.

Both teams hit poorly. A combination of great pitching and early part of the season. I give a lot of props to HP. Didn't think Libertyville would lose with both there D-1 pitchers going today.
