I've see variations of this question asked in the scorekeeping forum, and I have sent the question to Gamechanger support. Hoping someone here can help . . .

When we are the visitors we usually do not receive a copy of the home team's lineup/defensive positions. Does anyone know how to set the defensive positions without setting the batting order? For instance, tonight we need to put the home team's players in the field before we know where they are batting . . . but the only way that we know how to do it is to set the lineup, then choose a position for each player.

Thanks if anyone can help!

Welcome to the real world of trying to keep score! Wink

When many of the apps or scoring programs were developed, they were loped ASSUMING the world of baseball was this great place where everyone followed the rules, and everyone helped each other all the time. Unfortunately, that isn’t the case, and so most of these apps have this very glaring flaw, and its exposed when the real world like where you live, meets the Fantasyland the software was developed to operate in.

The easiest way to take care of it, is to have the HC/Manager give you his copy of both lineups, or allow you to at least make your own copy. Knowing that’s not gonna work for a whole lot of people, try what I do when my program 1st loads.

I allow a total 25 players for each team, and list the batting position, uniform number, last name, and fielding position for each. When the program loads, the 1st thing I do is have the program load every player position with a player named “NAME”, a uniform number of 99, and the 1st 10 players with a position of 1 thru 10.

What that does is allow the game to start, even if I have nothing on either team. From there its pretty simple to fill in the uni numbers, names, and positions as they become available.

Hope that helps.
Gamechanger actually makes this pretty simple. If the opposing team is home and you do not have the line up, you can simply touch on each position, select add a player, put in that player number, and select the player number you just put in.

When it come time to bat, you can adjust your batting order simply by pressing on the right dashes to drag the player to the proper spot in the order.

I do this on the fly all the time and it works quite easily. But if I botch something up, GameChanger makes it easy to fix in the gamestream section where you can edit plays already entered.

Good luck and feel free to PM me if you have any more GameChanger questions. I've ditched my scorebook for life!
The next question that might be asked is, OK, now I see they have a DH, how do I fix that?

Answer: until you can figure out who the DH is in there for (sometimes its not the pitcher) you can get started with 10 players. If you see that the next player is not the player you expected simply click on the lower section where the batter is named, and an option to Jump to Another Batter will appear.

You can go back later to adjust the lineup to reflect the DH by clicking on the DH, select Sit Player, but GC will then ask if you want to designate them as a DH, and then ask for who.

Gotta love GameChanger.
