We are headed to the Conn/Mass/RI area this spring and would like to see some college games. What are the "don't miss" schools/fields to see?

If you like history, Yale's stadium is pretty cool and a great place to watch a game. Lots of famous players have played there since the 1920's. Their names are noted on baseball plaques in the stadium tunnel. Catching a game on the weekends is pretty easy as Ivy teams play a 7 inning and a 9 inning game on Saturday and Sunday. Check Yale's schedule for home games.
Brown also has a pretty good setup with some excellent nearby restaurants. If you are a "foody", Providence is the place to be. Lot's of great choices.
I caught some games at Bryant University (Conaty field) on a business trip last year. Their program and facilities have come a long way since I went to school there in the 80s. Great place to watch a game especially against URI. Lots of jawing going on between the players and the parents. It makes for interesting theatre.
Have fun!.
We are looking at BC, West Point, Yale, Brown, maybe a few others. I have connections at those, so they're easy. Our flights are in & out of Boston. We're staying in North Stonington & Providence, but being from Texas we think nothing of driving a few hours to look around ;o)
CanyonsMom,
The northeast is a "high target" college area. You could easily see a dozens of schools in a couple days. BTW...A "northeast mile" is shorter than a "Texas mile". I've driven ten minutes in Austin trying to get to the end of a TX mile. You have a "PM" in your Dialogs box. Enjoy your trip.
Stony Brook vs URI March 20th@ URI.
Fitton Field on the campus of Holy Cross is a wonderful college stadium. Upgraded to support an independent summer league team so it can seat a few thousand.

Home opener March 19th hosting Boston College. Yale comes in for a DH on March 23rd.
Coach DiCenzo and his staff are outstanding.
Branson baseball
I checked the roster and notice 2 of our Goodwill Series alumni on the Holy Cross team.
Robert and I wish success to Evan and Colin.

I know this is a baseball forum, but if you are talking Brown / Yale, as Baseballmoman noted, go to Providence's Federal Hill (Little Italy) and if in New Haven, Tony and Lucille's is worth it. It's Italian food in back to back places, but after some good baseball, it will be worth it. Yale has 5 players on it's roster from TX and Brown has 2. Perhaps someone from your locale you can touch base with. Good luck.
Navy at Army 31 March and 1 April at the United States Military Academy's Abner Doubleday Field. These following an exhibition game between the West Point Cadets and the New York Yankees on 30 March. Going to be a great three days of college baseball. Go Army!
Branson, we are definitely adding Holy Cross to our list, but I'm not sure if we'll get a game in there or just see the facilities.
Quad, thanks for the food info, Italian is adored by our son, so we'll be sure to stop at those!
Carmel, I know! We almost changed our dates when we realized what was going on at West Point, but the airfare change was too great. We'll be there the end of April (
Sent you a Dialog, re: college visits.
Branson,
how was the game in Reno?
The readers will be interested to learn of the West Coast
journey for the Holy Cross team.

Great to see you at Elsie Allen!
Holy Cross struggling on the mound to throw strikes (including my guy) and lost two late. Got beat by a stud RHP in the first game. On to SLO and USD for 7 more on the West coast swing.
Branson;
Keep us informed on the Academic requirements for the players at Holy Cross.
Maybe a daily schedule when the team travels.
When Robert played at UH, he had daily "study hall" and if a player miss the study hall he was sent home.
"This a wonderful" time for the "student/athlete" and the parents.

Thank you all, we had a fabulous visit. We got to see a Brown vs Yale game, ate on Thayer in Providence & at Pepes in New Haven. We saw the stadiums at Harvard, Brown, Yale & Holy Cross and he loved it. We also managed to get in a game at Fenway. We so appreciate all the knowlege on this site and are looking forward to getting deeper into this process.
