Anyone familiar with their baseball program, facilities, campus? What advantages or disadvantages to playing/living/attending college in downtown Atlanta vs a small town college? Any thoughts and information are appreciated.

64cp, the most I can tell you about Ga State's program is that as I have kept up with their program because a few of my son's friends went there to play after HS. Their coach is a tenured coach there and is respected. They win their fair share of games and typically make it to the playoff's each year. I noticed his signing class coming in this fall a couple of weeks ago and it was very stout. I was actually shocked to see just how talented these boys were. He does a great job recruiting top local talent to GSU.
As you know the school is basically in buildings scattered about downtown Atlanta. I know that doesn't sound appealing but, it's the truth. If your son is looking for a "city" type setting to attend school then this would be a grandslam for him. They bought old business offices over the years and converted them to class rooms. The field from what I'm told his located away from downtown Atlanta. How far I am not sure.
If mom and dad would prefer he NOT be in that city environment, then a normal college away from the city would be recommended. Like any large city, Atlanta has its fair share of crime and the victims often involve students from GSU and Ga Tech.
Hope this helps.
