Hi folks,

My first post here, quite amazed by the wealth of information on this board.

My son was invited to a pre-draft camp to be held end of May. Unfortunately, he won't be in that area at all.

Does that pretty much ruin his chances with this team? Could the team pay for the airfare?

Many thanks!!!!

Danny

Danny, It won't HURT your son's chances of being drafted by that particular team by not attending the pre-draft workout. If he DOES attend it could hurt, or it could help. It could go either way depending on his performance compared to all the other invitees.

Remember, this is one week before the Draft and it's a very smart move on the MLB team to invite all their possible draft picks to be in one location at the same time and then
place them in order of importance after seeing them all compete against each other at the same time. It makes their job a lot easier. If your son is being considered he's obviously shown something previously. Congratulations. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

As I proud and biased dad I would think he's shown great potential....two D1 schools offering, three D2 and two pro teams are in contact with him. he just finished his JUCO stint last week-end. He's a catcher.
