Hi, I'm Freshman this year at Hillside High School. I'm the starting shortstop on the varsity team, and batting third with a batting average of .500. Since this is my first year of high school I was wondering the best steps to take in order to contact scouts, and get noticed at a young age. Any info would be helpful.

thanks, Craig

Craig, Good to see you on here. I just found out the other day that you were at Hillside. I actually thought you were at Jordan. The bottom line is if you are a player people will know about you. If you have great arm strength and the ability to hit good pitching no problem. Trust me coaches talk between themselves and know who the players are. Finding a really good team to play on in the summer and fall really helps you get exposure to college coaches as well. The other coaches in your conference will tell people about you if you stand out and you will get noticed. Impact is having open workouts again this year and the locations and dates are listed on their site at Impact Baseball.com. There are several young players in your area that have already gotten noticed by area coaches I have heard them mentiond already. They have done so by attending showcase events College camps and playing on scout teams in the area. Keep working hard and everything will take care of itself. Good Luck to you.
