Did anyone else see the "Ghost Tags" today
One on a DP in the Houston game and then in the Yankee game Jeter makes a "tag" on a steal of second that never is even near the runner sliding in

Jeter did a superb acting job on the phantom tag of Jones. Although his glove didn't come closer than about a foot from Jones' body, Jeter swept his glove down and quick-pop up, like it had bounced of his body. Very convincing, I guess . . .

Not to mention that the ump was shielded from ther play by Jeter and Jeter knew it from the git go--- like I have always said Jeter is a winner--he does all the "little " things right and that wins games
Like A-Rod stealing third tonight and then the wild pitch/passed ball--if he doesnt steal third they might still be playing.

Or, if Rincon didn't serve up a big juicy meatball to Sierra for a 3-run homer in the same 1/3 inning! Oops, that's mean, but that 4-run 1/3 inning was the ugliest part of a pretty good performance by the Twins in the series - won the first game, and lost two of the next three in extra innings.
When I watched the replays of Jeter's phantom tag of Jones, it was frustrating to clearly see that it should not have been out number 3 to end the inning, but also I couldn't help having the same reaction you mentioned - Jeter really knows how to play the game, and do the little things that turn out big.

Anyone watch the Dodgers games when Lima came up and bunted with the guys on 1st/3rd? The ball bounced and hit him as he started out of the batter's box, but no umps saw it. Matheny grabs the ball fires to 2nd, everyone's safe. Dodgers get a couple in that inning. Wouldn't have mattered if the umps used video replay, St. Louie never scored.
It's all part of the game, isn't it?
