Was wondering if a player wanted to give back his scholarship and sit out a year at a juco would he lose a year of eligibility.

What kind of eligability? JC? D1?
If you are talking JC, you could transfer to a CA JC for the spring and play....assuming you make the team and pay the out of state tuition.

Once you take 12 units in a semester or quarter at a JUCO or 4 year school, you have 5 years to play 4 years of ball in the eyes of NCAA not counting situations such as medical redshirt waiver. NAIA have different rules.
