It is a great way to break in a new glove for immediate use. I had my son's new Pro Preferred steamed when we bought it a couple of years ago.

There may be a downside, however. That glove didn't last long...it just became too soft too quickly.

We replaced that glove with another Pro Preferred. This time my son used the old fashioned Rawlings break-in kit, along with using the glove for long toss. When it wasn't being used, it was shaped with a large plastic whiffle ball (came with the kit). It really didn't take long - a couple of weeks.
