For Terp Baseball, this is de ja vous as
the Terps lost all baseball scholarships in 1990
maybe a week after Head Coach Tom Bradely took over the reigns. He reached out to alumni who helped get back several scholarships and misc dollars for operating costs.

Even with Turtle's donations, Baseball is
on dwindling solid financial grounds, and the rationale behind the 'bubble' ranking.

Bottom Line: Send your checks in, now. Make it payable to Maryland Foundation. Direct the dollars to Maryland Baseball on the checks left footnote.
$500 is a nice number.

Sometimes the leaks are strategic, designed to motivate donors to come to the rescue.

Over the last 15-20 years, threats of this sort of thing have hung over UVA, James Madison, and William & Mary, among others. W&M not only pushed through this in the early 1990's but got a (then) wholly new facility out of the fund raising effort led by former Coach Farr. Madison also avoided the axe and wound up with a new stadium and is doing quite nicely all around. If memory serves, it was only about 10 years ago that UVA's program was considered at risk. Look where they are now. Former Coach Womack got them the new stadium, the program transitioned to the O'Connor era, and now they are a national powerhouse program.

That being said, I can't see this as being good for recruiting in the short term. What would help would be if a major donor would come forward over the winter with a commitment that Coach Bakich could sell to recruits next summer.
