Eli looked good in the outfield to not be fully recovered from his foot injury. That catch was a keeper. Cale came over our house on Wednesday night with about six other guys and wasn't looking forward to the long drive to Omaha. Did you see his interview wearing a Vol jersery? looked like a kid caught with his hand in the cookie jar. Smile Its nice to see these players mix with their homeboys, chaise girls, watch movies and just be young men. Cale still hasn't heard where his 2 year mission will be.

As for the Vols, its hard at this level to make any mistakes and win a game. To their credit they did make a run and got back in the game. It will be interesting to see if Atkins remains as hot as he has been in his last starts as a freshman in Omaha.

I was sitting there watching the game and I kept wondering when ASU was going to make the adjustment and start going backside. When they got those two hits I was surprised they left the pitcher in. I know its easy to arm chair qb but in my opinion the coach left him in too long. But hindsight is 20-20. They had a great year and they were good enough to advance it just didnt work out for them this year. They had a great season and they are a very good team.
Give ASU credit for making the adjustments and finding the holes in the right side of the infield. Also credit ASU's pitching staff for getting the outs when they needed them.

I thought Buck's catch of Borbon's liner in right field was the play of the game. He made an athletic leap to stab the ball, or the Vols could have put the game away. A 4 or 5 to 1 lead going into the 8th might have changed the complexion of the game.

Still, it was a great accomplishment to get to the show. I don't think the season would have lasted much longer anyway. Tennessee's real shot to make the finals was dashed when they went to the loser's bracket IMO.

I think the Gators have a chance. As much as it pains me to say. GO GATORS.
