Lots of good stuff at many sites! However in the world of baseball goals - Most lack the ACTION needed to make the goal come true. The biggest impact on the stuff I do with players and goals was the (recently passed) great Harvey Dorfman. His first book on the mental game inspired me to create a goal system with 2 branches - Performance Goals and Acheivment Goals. Everyone writes acheivement goals but it is the performance goals that create a "playing philosophy". As a player - Who are you?, Who do you want to become? and How are you going to get there? This type of goal needs to focus on the process vs. the result. Most guys write result goals. I want to hit .400. Hitting .400 is a result - what is the process to be able to hit that well? Then the player needs the game actions (action goals) to make those performance standards or that playing philosophy to come true! These game actions can be word statements, visualizations, routines, or various other mental/physical methods to give action to the goal.
