Actually it can be done under certain circumstances.  A few years ago Delta State had a Canadian player who was drafted out of high school and played in the minors for part of two seasons due to injuries. He then applied at the DII school and the NCAA took two years of eligibility away although I believe he was able to practice the year he came to the school. He was the DH the next year full time before leaving for a different school his senior year. I believe this had something to do with the fact that he was from Canada and only a DII school is allowed to do this. The rules may have changed in the last two years also.

There have been circumstances of this happening but never if you sign an agreement with an agent.  Good advice to anyone is never sign your agreement with an agent until after you sign your pro contract. I do beleive that this never happens in D1 but the player can return to play another sport even while playing pro ball.

It's a good question, but I wouldn't count on it.

If the player was released he would be a free agent and could sign with any team .If he left pro ball he would still be owned by the team he for a total of seven yrs (?)

There have been players that left pro baseball and could not play baseball for anyone other than the team he signed with.

If the player was released and able to return to college baseball i would think he was still a free agent ???
