Has anyone ever used a golf cart to smooth or nail drag an infield? Is it powerful enough or do I need to get a gas powered ATV? gators are too pricey for me.

We use an ATV and i think it is far more versatile...you can get a bucket for the back for dirt and hauling, a roller for smoothing the infield to pull behind, an aerator to pull behind, or a drop spreader...other than cutting the grass a nice ATV is in my opinion the way to go especilly considering the price and the fact they usually rn forever.
Yes and it is more than adequate.
A golf cart transmission/clutch isn't made to handle the drag put on by pulling something like that. Yes you can use it....but don't expect it to last very long....especially if it's going to be used multiple times/day
For a long time, we used a garden tractor. It wasn't great, but it got the job done for several years. They finally replaced it with an ATV. You may look around and see about a cheaper UTV like a Gator. I know of a farm supply store that carries one for about $4k, which I imagine is what you'd spend on an ATV anyway.
Our school recently took delivery of a sand rake like what is used on golf courses. Talk about expensive!
You'll be picking up the pieces of a golf cart if you try to drag fields.
I recommend a two man pulling system. Great way to strengthen up the freshman.

We use a golf cart to sweep the turf on our football field. It takes a beating too but not many issues with it..
