Good young player

I have a quick question. I ahve a 14 year old 8th grader on my team and he hits the ball 330 ft on a good hit he has a great arm and a is a good fielder. he has ok speed and can play any where on the field. he is 5-11 150 pounds and his best is 3rd base. do you see great things and talent for MLB

Too early to think about ML, next step is HS, and the right question have to be is he a good student to qualify for D-1 collegue?

A player from our area threw mid to high 80s at 14yo and hit well for the varsity team. The team played in one of the better leagues in the country. That's about the only kid I'd consider as seeing great things and a talent for MLB at that age. Even so, you just never know what is going to happen over the next few years.

On the other hand your player is very talented and with hard work could be a prospect in a couple years.

At his age he needs "reps" and good coaching

You say his speed is adequate --if so then he should work on improving that aspect of his game

It is as till a long road before anyone says MLB prospect for any 14 year old

Just keep working hard to improve and he will be fine if he has the talent
