Son plays on a summer/fall showcase team. He received a email from xyz school inviting him to there summer camp(the normal program money maker) Son sends a email back thanking them for the invite to the camp. Then son gets a email back from the assistent coach asking him how his season is going and if would send his stats for the season so far. Son sends a email with his stats and info. Gets a email back from the coach saying keep up the good work and we look forward to seeing you, please stay in touch and gives him his cell phone number, all of this within 24hrs. Now he has me thinking???? Any thoughts would help.

Redbb15,

Kind of depends on who the coach is. For example if he is a volunteer assistant and his main duty is running the camp, it might just mean he wants to get you to that camp. Still not a bad thing and could end up being a very good thing, he is on the staff. On the other hand, if he is the recruiting coordinator, head coach, or another assistant, giving you his cell number could be very meaningful.

I would look at it this way. Anytime a coach gives you his cell number, it's a good sign. Indirectly He is saying it is alright for you to call him. Still, it doesn't mean anything more than that.
