The independent leagues are great. I played independent ball (Frontier League and Western League) for a couple years, and I loved every minute of it. It is quality baseball and provides great opportunities for fans to see good baseball in areas that the organizations don't want to put teams.
I hope Epstein TAKES the job - he won't, but wouldn't it make a great statement about "the love of the game"?
The whole purpose of the job offer is a whole lot of free PR.

Often ex major league players and personal will coach or be GMs in indy leagues.

Good example, an ex MLB player and MLB coach. Who just recently quit his job coaching Triple A ball to be closer to his kid and to actually see his kid play ball.

Was working for an indy team cutting grass, before being hired as the teams GM.
