nyc....Key to transfer students, in most cases, is the amount of transfer credits the new institution will accept on the road towards your completion of their degree requirements.
Best advice anyone can give you is to be sure you speak with the Admissions office of the school you hope to transfer to so that you are certain of taking courses at the JC that will transfer for credit.
My experience, from what I've heard...schools are more concerned about courses that transfer than gpa. What good is an A in a course that no school will accept for transfer credit?
Key is the new school. Get on the phone and call them and keep written track of who you speak with and what they say; and, then, follow it up with a written confirmation (email or regular mail)with the school.
I know someone who wants to transfer from the midwest to a Cali 4-year University, but can't do it until he has 60 hours of acceptable credit. In other words, only after your sophomore year.
Good luck.
