Great game last night between Arlington Heights and Rowlett. Game ended in a 1-1 tie after 8 innings.
Andrew Smith and Walker Kelly had a great pitching duel . Brandon Loy for Rowlett made several key defensive plays that should make the ESPN web jam/ gem of the week. Walker Kelly can flat out bring it. I believe he ended up with 14ks. Even though a tie is like kissing your sister, this was one of the best games I have seen. Great job to both clubs.

I was thinking about this game this morning as I peeled my eyelids back and drove to work. I came up with "The Good and the Bad" from last night.

The Good:

1. Walker Kelly, AH - WOW!!!! I haven't watched near the hs baseball that most people have on this forum. But, I can honestly tell you he is the best hs pitcher I have ever seen. No questions asked. He was almost untouchable all night. 14 K's in 6 Innings should say it all.

2. Brandon Loy, Rowlett - Made some UNBELIEVABLE plays at short. The only guy who really gave Kelly problems all night.

3. #24, Arlington Heights - One HR and hit the ball hard all night

4. David Jackson, Rowlett - Pitched two innings of lights out relief.

5. Rowlett Defense - Very good all night! Kept Ringer1 Son in it all six innings that he was in there.

The Bad:

1. Whoever made up the schedule - You had SGP vs Mesquite in the 7pm game and AH vs Rowlett in the 9:15 game. The team that has to drive the farthest got the late game on a school night. It should have been, Rowlett vs Mesquite in the 7pm game and AH vs SGP in the late game since they are local. We didn't get into bed until 1am this morning and our school starts at 7:30. Not very smart in my mind.

2. The music from the press box - I really can't put it words. Just real, real bad

3. Last but certainly not least, the way I just spoke to my wife when she called to ask why I hadn't posted anything yet - Sorry Scooch, I love you!!!

Now, everyone can pile on me because I'm too tired to really care!!! Big Grin
I agree with you about the start time of the last game.

We played in the SGP tournament and they have the same schedule for that. That is a big reason why we will not be attending that tournament next year. Hard to explain to my adm., parents, and kids the potential of playing at 9:15pm (assuming the games stay on schedule) on a school night.

It was a long but successful day for Rowlett today. Three games in fourteen hours and Rowlett wins the Grand Prairie Tournament. I can honestly tell you that EVERY player on the Rowlett team contributed in a positive way for the team today.

Congrats to Tyler Applequist(sp?) for earning Tournament MVP. He played his rear off today. He deserves it.

GO EAGLES!!!!

With both teams out of pitching, Rowlett faced Lake Highlands in the Championship game of the Grand Prairie Tournament. Congratulations to Rowlett as they beat LH 14 - 10. The Rowlett bats were too much for Junior Bott and Soph Burns. Wow, this one had lots of offense on both sides. Fun Game!

The Rowlett SS is pretty impresive.

Ringer1 tell the boys good luck the balance of the year.

Will do!!!

We had a few guys, who have been very productive all year, who fell into a small slump at the plate on saturday and a starter that fell ill but the rest of the guys stepped up and really hit the ball well. A true TEAM effort. I could not be more proud of our guys.
