Just as the media seems to thrive on bad news, so, too most internet umpire sites are busiest when there are complaints about the performance of MLB umpires.

It ia appropriately quiet today. Outside of a couple mechanics issues that only trained umpires would notice...not a lot to talk about.

Congratulations John and crew.

Hirschbeck in my opinion had one of the best strike zones I have seen thoughout the playoffs. They did a great job last night! John is a 27-year vet and it hasn't always been pretty as he was part of the Roberto Alomar incident and Hideki Irabu incident where he was accused by both of using slurs. On the plus side he was behind the plate for Bond's 756th, and 3-weeks ago for Halladay's post-seaon no-hitter.
