Thanks for posting. I loved Moneyball, didn't realize there was a manager following it's basic premise 30 years ago.

There is another lesson for young managers out there. Sure, everyone wants to manage in the big leagues. In Weaver's case, by managing thoughout the Orioles organization for all those years, he probably knew the talent in that organization better than any other person when he finally got the job. In many cases, he won with less. However, it is undeniable that the foundation of those teams was the great pitching. Hall of fame pitching and all-star pitching. One year, he had four 20 game winners on staff.
