While I don't have 1st hand info on GC, one of my sons best friend is a freshman attending GC this yr. He told me his friend really enjoyed the fall. Coach Carlyle really worked the team hard this past fall and is a hands on coach not only for baseball but for academics. While GC has had some very good seasons they play in one of the top D 111 BB conferences. This yr's early D 111 baseball poll has Methodist ranked 21st. Methodist was a sweet 16 finalist last yr. Also in the conference is Ferrum, Averett, & Christopher Newport U. CNU played in the D111 final 4 in 2002 & the title game in 03, CNU is ranked 46th. Ferrum and Averett have been ranked during the past 3 yrs or so. As you can see it is a very competitive conference. Greensboro also plays their home games a War Memorial stadium. A historical baseball stadium rich in history. I'm sure you will get someone to post who has 1st hand info on GC. Good luck to your BB dreams.

As noted , it may be Division III but it is a very high level of baseball

One of the Dads who frequents this site has a son there who is a starter--hopefully he will jump in and help you out on a more "intimate" level

I know the boy in question, he attended one of our showcases a few years back, and I can tell you that he is very happy there. He is also a NC boy

Great program.. My son was contacted by Coach Carlyle. We went on a visit down there last year.(2003) The coach seem genuine and real to us.
Their field, War Memorial stadium, is a beautiful field. The coached seemed to care about not only the kids athletically but academically as well.
My son however choose another school. He wanted a school with a little tougher curriculum and a little closer to home.
O7 Southpaw,

If you would like to send me a PM I can pretty much tell you whatever you'd like to know about GC.
As TRHIT said my son is entering his Sr. season at GC and the coaching has gotten progressively better each year Big Grin . Coach Car has assembled a top notch staff with last year as their first year together and you can tell a vast improvement in all areas. My son has enjoyed the area so much that he does not come home for the summers rather he stays in Greensboro. If you would like to talk with me in in person just attend any GC game this year, home or away Big Grin and ask someone to point out the 2B's dad.
