DRY FORK — Tunstall and George Washington needed eight innings to score a run, but when it was all said and done Tunstall finished on top in the 1-0 contest Thursday.

Blake Bivens struck out 13 and gave up just two hits in seven innings of work for the Eagles (7-2). Luke Simpson had 12 strikeouts and allowed three hits for Tunstall (6-0) in the first seven innings.

Dayman Totherow made the play of the game when, with two outs and the bases loaded, he hit a bloop single just out of the infield to bring in the winning run. Totherow’s RBI gave Alex Was (1-0) the win for Tunstall. Brad Smith (0-2) got the loss for GW.

Gavin Payne had a double for Tunstall while Simpson had a hit. Bivens had a pair of singles and Hunter Byrnes had a double for the Eagles.

Both teams will play in an invitational tournament at Dan Daniel Park next week. Tunstall will take on Parkview at 5 p.m. Thursday. GW will face Hargrave in the nightcap at 7:30 p.m.
