What, no Halladay thoughts on here yet?

Wow. That was just one simply beautiful pitching performance. The video should be in the dictionary under the term "movement".

And Cal Ripken, Jr. should be hired as a full time baseball commentator-his comments on MLB Network were just perfect-insightful and right on point. He's a breath of fresh air.

It's nice to see the other teams scrambling for the last available World Series Championship before the Orioles Dynasty under Buck Showalter begins. (Hey, I can dream can't I?)

Halladay is a beast. I've been trying to tell anyone that would listen for the past 4 or 5 years. If I needed a pitcher for one game, it would be him. I thought he has been the best starting pitcher in MLB for several years. Great stuff and knows how to use it, consistent, great work ethic, piles up the innings every year, and not injury prone.

Yes there is hope for our O's. History says that Showalter will build a championship contender and someone else will follow him to reap the rewards. Be nice if he were able to finish the job himself this time. Working for Angelos certainly decreases his chances of that happening!

I only saw the highlights on ESPN but from what I saw his stuff was nasty last night. He will get the Cy Young this year and should win it easily but this has me thinking though.

What happened to Ubaldo Jiminez (the stud from Colorado in case I totally butchered the spelling of his name) after he started out on fire in the early part of the season.

Reason I ask is I truly have no idea what happened to him. Once football starts on August first I typically lose track of what's going on in baseball until the last week or two of the season. I haven't heard about him in forever.

Halladay is a beast though.

As is Billy Ripken when he is on air, does a fantastic job of relating detailed baseball insight to the viewer..

Talking about Halladay's work ethic; don't forget he's a guys that was sent BACK to the minors a few years ago to straighten out his delivery mechanics. Looks as if that was time well spent as he was unhitable, in a post season game, to a great hitting baseball club! Missed by just one pitch, of having his SECOND perfect game in the same season. What are the odds on that?
Roy Halladay, one of the youngest arms in the big league at 21 in 1998, is in his first postseason in year thirteen, and potential HoF career.

Being a part of that well deserved 'throwback' criteria and with the last years trade from the Blue Jays, 'Leroy' will 'earn' the 75% of the votes required as he continues dominating. And being in the City of Brotherly Love, Halladay will become more of a household name, if not already.

I watched the first four innings or so Wednesday before I had to leave for a meeting. He was dominating the Reds, but I was surprised when I returned home to learn he'd No-Hit a very good hitting team...I believe it's the first No-No in Post Season Play since the Don Larsen perfect game? Halladay is old school, he finishes what he starts and has that ultimate "Bulldog" mentality! He's been a great pitcher for Toronto for several years, and I'm glad that he finally has an opportunity to play in the post season...no doubt the Phillies are glad too!
It was one of the great pitching performances of all time imho.

There were knuckleheads over on ESPN who tried to downplay the achievement by saying the Reds can't hit. That was a no hitter against every other club in the big leagues last night including the Yankees. Unbelievably stupid people getting paid to air bogus opinions imho.
I will take nothing from Roy becuase he carved it up like turkey on thanksgiving, it really did look like he threw everyball down the middle and then it moved anywhere but.

But i have to say the reds who have a good offense, didn't do anything to deviate from his rythm at all, poor performance on their part.

Granted Reds wonuldn't have won but they probably wouldn't be headliners today.

I couldn't agree more.

Nothing that he threw in that game was straight. His pitches were constantly cutting, tailing, and/or sinking. Hitters had no chance of squaring anything up.
