Have you seen it? I have and I like it; caught last weeks clips of the Cox/Kempsville high-lights.

OK,they do have some problems. They need a local sports editor; I mean someone that truly knows what's going on in the High School sports environment.

Case in point is this weeks feature on Kempsville's star; Neil Ramirez.
http://www.hamptonroads.tv/index.cfm?locvid=121760&tid=r700&fv=1

The banner start's with: Athlete to Meet: Kempsvile ace Neil Rivera- is this a new kid?

Then within the piece, Ms Leigh states " it's been 10 years since a local guy has been selected in the
1st round". Roll Eyes

Someone please correct me if I am wrong, but I am thinking of the following:

Micheal Cuddyer
John Curtice
David Wright
BJ Upton
Ryan Zimmerman
and was not the #1 pick overal in 06, Justin Upton.

As a photographer/videographer (Mass Communication Specialist) in the Navy, this kind of sloppy reporting irks me to no end. The context of the reporting was good, but the players featured could at least have their names spelled correctly.

HamptonRoads.TV, I am available in a year from now;
I would love to do this. Wink

Justin was the #1 pick in 2005. David Wright was a supplemental round pick between the 1st and 2nd rounds in 2001.
Your point ,however, is well taken. The Pilot seems to hire people who don't know sports to be sports writers and then has editors who don't care to make sure that the stories are correct. Additionally they don't seem tom havce much interest in anything not related to the Redskins or Nascar.

VaDad,
Thanks for the correction, Kansas City picked Luke Hochevar #1 in 06.

I am originally from Cincy; High School sports recieves excellent coverage there; even with two pro franchises in Baseball and Football.
... and two college BB programs; UC and Xavier.
UC Football has been to several bowl games in recent years also.
