Please everyone be safe this new year, and for God's sake do not drink and drive.

Two nights ago there was a tragedy in my next door neighbor's family. Their 18 year old son drove home drunk, crossed the lane and hit another car head on.

The driver of the other car, last I heard, was still critical. My neighbor's son is in bad shape also, a head injury requiring brain surgery. His prognosis is uncertain.

So, just a reminder - don't take the risk, and make sure to continually remind your sons and daughters as well.

I certainly wish I didn't have such a tragic reminder in our neighborhood. At least two families lives shattered forever. Good people, all of them.

Happy (and safe) New Year, everybody.
I wish for all of you - players, parents, coaches:

The courage to follow your dreams ... even when some people think you are a little crazy.

The dedication to also work on a Plan B ... just in case.

The peace of mind to look around you and truly enjoy the journey, savor each step along the way.

Most of all, I wish you love and friendship. Hug your kids. Call your parents and tell them you love them. Don't let your friend get behind the wheel of that car after a drink or two. Stay safe.

Happy New Year!

Julie
Rob,
Our prayers for your neighbor's son and the other driver. I hope they both pull through without any lasting damage. Will you please report on their conditions?

Best wishes to all for a healthy and safe new year.

May I echo what so many others have posted--love your children and your parents. Have patience with them.
They can be gone in an instant.

Peace.
