To all our past and present members of the US Armed Forces, thanks for all our freedoms and liberties!!

It is the SOLDIER, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press.
It is the SOLDIER, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech.
It is the SOLDIER, not the campus organizers, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate.
It is the SOLDIER, who salutes the flag, who serves the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protester to burn the flag.
AMEN, Douglas MacArthur - General of the Army

It was an honor to substitute teach in a 5th grade classroom and attend the K-5 school's Veteran's Day program. How sweet to hear young voices sing patriotic songs such as "Yankee Doodle", "America the Beautiful", "You're a Grand Old Flag", etc. I truly hope we never lose this.

The kids brought their special family members who served in the military. The veterans introduced themselves and told which branch they served in and the years, and included if they fought in our wars. It was special to have a WW2 vet on the stage.

It was also very heartwarming to hear the Viet Nam vets welcome the other Viet Nam vets home. I remember when they truly did come home from the jungle and did not receive the heroes' welcome they deserved.

They all received a very warm standing ovation when every veteran had been introduced.

When it was over and we returned back to the classroom, I took the opportunity to explain to them how great it is to truly honor the vets this way---much better than having the day off ---which is what my generation had, a day off. I like this much much better. We really can honor the veterans in our communities publicly, especially since most of them never received a proper thank you.

So to all of you vets out there in hsbbwland, thank you. To all of you and your family members who have volunteered their time and lives so that we can be free, thank you and Godspeed.

One of the 5th grade speakers recited a portion of the Declaration of Independence-- "with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes, and our sacred Honor."

Thank you, veterans, for your sacred Honor. God bless America.

There's an automobile dealership alley on both sides of Route 202 in Flemington, NJ. They all fly the hugest American flags you will see. It's very beautiful to see on a windy day.
