Harden was a very good pitcher in 2005. But only 13 starts over the last three years. Who would you rather have? I think the A's stole one, and once again have the makings of a very, very good young pitching staff Smile

The A's always amaze me, Or should I say Beane amazes me.
He alway's will get 3 or 4 player's in return for trading 1 or 2 player's.
And if you look at who he trade's for, They are all young.
And very talented player's.
He does not trade for veteran's.
Like I said before they are loaded with quality pitching in there minor league system.

That's why I said relatively cheap. Right now we are loaded in the farm. I wouldn't be surprised if we lost a couple more prospects for a veteran outfielder. Then again, management likes the young guys and it is pretty hard to argue against it. Even if we make the play offs, we have no chance against the American League so we might as well stay with the youngin's.

But I really love Haren. He has great stuff and is tough and smart. A rare combination.

Until then you'll probably have to root against him, or you can just watch him pitch in the Futures Game.

Funny story about Brett. As he was heavily recruited out of HS, the Andersons got an in house visit from Mark Marquess from Stanford. What's so unusual about that? Brett's dad Frank happens to be the head baseball coach at Oklahoma State! That must have been an interesting dinner conversation. Brett ended up going in the 2nd round and signing with AZ.
