I was planning to buy my son (second base/pitcher), age 14, new baseball gloves and came across the Domin site - they looked very nice but I had never heard of them before. Does anyone have any experience with them?

Also, is it better to get him separate gloves for each position (pitcher and second base) or one glove for both?

I appreciate any comments as I am new at this.

Thanks.

gss712,

Welcome to the HSBBW! I have absolutely no knowledge of those gloves, but they do look nice. Gloves are such a personal thing, it's hard to give advice. If you're planning on giving your son a gift, I'd be willing to bet that he'll love it like no other... unless of course he's already got his mind set on another brand. Maybe you could ask one of his buds first?
As for multiple gloves, I'd recommend just a good INF glove, maybe one that doesn't have an open web. Over gearing at that age can lead to negative attention being drawn to a player. If he's out in the field and called in to pitch, an extra glove probably won't be worth the extra trip to the dugout, if you know what I mean. JMHO

gss712,

Yes, I have a Domin Glove. They are great quality gloves that are made in Mexico. I have one myself that I bought to work out with my son. The only complaint I have is that it seems to run smaller in size, mine is 12 3/4 but seemed smaller than my son's outfielder 12 3/4 Rawlings. Also, the palm had no padding so it will leave you with a stinger when catching the ball in the palm area. Now, they might have made adjustments to their gloves since I've bought mine a couple of years ago. Here is a link for a great quality leathered glove that some of my sons teammates and locals are using. You can customize it for yourself, such as color, webbing, stitch your name & a flag if wanted (American flag etc..)

Thank you for the helpful advice. This is a great site. I found a posting here (Dec 8th JDsDad) regarding a great price on Rawlings 11-1/4 inch Propreferred Glove from closeoutbats.com
I ordered it and it arrived within 2 days (in time for Christmas). He will love it!

My son is 14 and a freshman at a small Christian school that does not have a baseball team. But he really is determined to try to play as much as he can (AAU or travel team plus Little League) and we are following your timeline. I don't know what I would have done without your site (I began looking at it this past August). Thanks and Merry Christmas!
