I've been following HSBBWEB for a bit and read about individual accomplishments of our son's (first time pitcher hits 90 on a gun, no hitters, hit streaks, grand slams to win games, etc). Tonight my son had a "first." His manager had called him over between innings (I thought it was to tell him to swing away, or bunt, take the ball to right field, etc.). Later on the manager talked with the clean-up hitter when he was on deck, but oh so briefly. My son had just been hit by a pitch to load bases. Another walk and fielder's choice and the bases were still loaded now son is at third base. With one out and cleanup hitter up, son times delivery of lefty pitching from windup and STRAIGHT STEALS home on a pitch a little above the belt. SAFE CALL immediately, hand in. (Now I know what the conference was with the #4 hitter. If son gets on third and you're up DON'T SWING on first pitch). He's stole home before, but at the front end of double steal. Incidentally the steal was not the biggest piece of news in game. Pitcher threw no-hitter in 8-0 win. (Of course I'll always remember the third run)
