Anybody know anything about this camp? I just got an invite today.
"Practice."-Tiger Woods when asked what he would do after failing to make the cut at the U.S. Open. "When nothing seems to help, I go and look at a stone-cutter hammering away at his rock perhaps 100 times without as much as a crack showing. Yet at the 101st blow, it will split in two, and I know it was not that blow that did it, but all that had gone before." mtownfan

Never been, but I hear it's a great showcase to attend if you are a top tier student and want to go to a good academic school. I hear it's run well and has been a great experience for those who have gone. If you do a search you should find a discussion.

I'm wondering what would be the best year to attend? As a rising sophmore, junior, or senior? It's pretty pricey.
Congrats mtownfan! I got the e-mail too, and if you don't mind I would like to add a question to this thread.

What is the level of talent at this showcase? I know that might sound like a strange question, but I feel that its something I would want to know going into the event. Btw, I'm talking moreso about the Richmond than the Cal or Fla ones because I am planning to attend the Richmond one.

Thanks alot.
Do a search for "headfirst" under the "find" function at the top of the page, and you'll find a number of threads on this camp. Here is a link to one:

It is outstanding. As far as the talent level, I am not the one who could answer that, especially since we are several years away from son's last participation (in 2003). I think that if you look at the list of colleges attending you will see an assortment of D1 and D3s of different levels. I always love to endorse this showcase. It is just great and the people who run it, starting with Brendan Sullivan, are tops.
There probably will be some overlap. Headfirst's website keeps an updated list of schools coming. This is the first year of the Sacramento site and I am glad they are coming out here too. The two camps are different in their size and the way they are run, but there are probably some similarities too--you will hear wonderful things about both of them. Since Brendan was a Stanford pitcher, I wouldn't be surprised to hear that there is a lot of mutual respect between the two camps!
Check the list.......if you have an interest in 2 or 3 of the schools (or maybe just 1).......GO! My 08 went to the Richmond showcase last year. It was well run and Sully does a great job.

As far as talent goes, we have been to a number of regional and National Showcases held by Perfect Game. I would put the overall talent level at last year's Richmond event roughly on par with a PG regional event. Hope that helps.

GOOD LUCK!
