That's ugly!
Wow. On so many fronts ...
Ouch!
Sounds like neither one will be a winner, especially after the IRS starts their audit.
This sucks for me as my wife had just started getting interested in the baseball camp thing(she was going to pay) if it was oriented toward the more Ivy types of programs. Seriously though I hope the void will be filled and given the amount of $ it appears was sloshing around it will be.
Yikes!
(comment deleted before I even posted)!
At least there's a bright side-the lawyers will make money.
I've seen pleadings in lawsuits for over 30 years but never have seen anything like this-pleadings written for effect, likely under the correct assumption that they would be publicized. The lawyers should be blasted by the Judge for some of what they put into their pleadings. Civility? Nah...
Holy Snikies!! I wonder what the ripple effect will be from this.
Why can't we all just get along?
Personally, I'm not surprised.... And leave it at that.
Wow,
Now I guess I know why the price kept going up. Sounds like a great concept undone by greed. Wasn't the first, won't be the last.
I wouldn't assume they are "done" or will go out of business. In any case, I hope not. Setting aside what bad deeds were done and by whom, there is a very valuable - $$$ - asset there, to be sure. The two sides will not lose sight of that, despite their disdain for each other. From what I've witnessed, Sullivan is a very bright guy, and having 100% of nothing is far less appealing that compromising on the ownership structure or agreeing to pay the guy over time to go away and keep quiet. They do have a great customer value proposition, and lawsuits like this are not uncommon between (former) business partners...and they get settled out of court 95% of the time. This one just happened to hit the public radar (and I wouldn't be surprised if this is the last we hear of it). Now, if they broke the law and did not pay taxes, cheated the school, etc., that is a different story. But, even then, they could just pay fines. Agree with all, though, very ugly and surprising. Thanks v much for posting. My plans for early August 2014 may have changed!
Geez, sorry to hear this.
Now that guy that was complaining about the Headfirst Showcase and the rain at the Long Island camp will be back.
This may or may not be a good time to mention that we will be offering 2 High Academic College Bus Tours next summer. I will post in a separate thread also. You are the 1st people to see this info! Literally just posted the info.
These tours are not "recruiting trips" or "camps" per say, but rather opportunities for kids to see a ton of schools with their own eyes. The link below has a wordy description (manifesto) of the inspiration and goals for these trips. In a nut shell, there are no "bad" choices at this level. But don't you want the "best" choice for your son?

1st come 1st serve for all 4 trips. 35 player maximum. This is not a meat market. Tours given by the baseball staff at each school. 2 workouts on each tour.
I truly hope HeadFirst, the business, survives these issues. It has served a very important part in a lot of players and coaches recruiting process. I have referred players to them since there days using the Va Sports Complex. Positive outcomes from every kid I've ever sent.

Rich, just in case you're interested in feedback from somebody in your target audience -- father of a CA-based 2017 who will likely be looking at high academic east-coast D3 schools: that NE trip looks very cool, both as a baseball experience and as a way to see a whole bunch of colleges and a fair chunk of whatever region you choose. And the price seems fair, especially if paid early. However, I would be concerned that as a baseball recruiting activity it seems pretty thin, with no guarantee of coach participation or assurance of level of play. And as a fairly seasoned traveler I would say that if you're going to that many places in that short a time span you're spending a lot of time in transit and not having the time to see very much when you get where you're going.
But like I said, it does look interesting, so I hope you don't find the feedback too harsh.

In an attempt to not highjack this thread I have posted info in another spot...
http://community.hsbaseballweb...ic-college-bus-tours
Please make any suggestions, responses, questions over there. I think I addressed your comments in my post. If not, feel free to call.
We can try to keep this thread about HF. I know I'll be curious as to the outcome.

What a crazy story !
The thing that struck me the most was the " Upper Caucasia" reference. I'm a SoCal and know nothing about Washington DC, so I translated that to mean uppity whitey neighborhood.I then googled "Upper Caucasia" and found out that it's a real place ! Haha.
I thought it was a joke name like "Sillioussaurus or Biggus Dickus "

This is really sad. My son did a ton of Headfirst camps, clinics and teams when he was in elementary school. Worshipped Rob and Sully.
