Son was selected to play on a team playing in Dominican Republic this summer. Travel agent is suggesting health insurance for player and family attending tournament suggesting that our current health insurance will not provide the coverage we want. Accurate?

Plans usually cover emergency situations pretty good for a 30 day span or so. Check the exclusions and limitations of your policy.

That said, an international plan for a short duration is relatively inexpensive and would probably do well to supplement your existing plan.
