I like to buy my sons bat for the season a little on the heavy side. He is growing and we play for 9-10 months in the desert. It is usually a struggle for the first month or so and then it feels right. It is cheaper to do it this way but he struggles a bit at first.
Do other parents who have kids that play nearly year round do this also? Or maybe should I bite the bullet and get him a -5? He could swing that easier. He refuses to use any bat less than 32" long so getting a shorter -3 bat is out.
Opinions are appreciated.
