Hey HS Baseball Web,
I need to get my arm speed up from 69 to 80 and my 6o yard dash from 7.8 to 7.4. I talked with the holy cross coach and although he could not say much to me due to the fact that I'm only a sophomore. He said I have great bat speed and I could play in the patriot league if I got my stats up. So please does anyone have thoughts on how to increase arm speed and 60 times?

Welcome Sean,

I'm sure that you will find this site helpful, and there are a lot of knowledgeable people here that can provide sound information.

The quickest way to your answer is to use the search tool. Use the "find" tab at the top of this page and input "arm speed" "throwing speed" "increasing velocity" etc. and I'm sure you'll end up with some great reading material. Same goes for increasing your foot speed. Search "increasing speed" or "foot speed" or "60 times" or something of the like.

However, the common theme between these two is that it takes hard work. If it is your goal to play baseball in college, you have to see yourself working harder than everyone else around you. This may mean making sacrifices such as waking up early, going to sleep early, eating right, and perhaps sacrificing your social life in order to pursue your dreams of playing college baseball.

One of my coaches told me: in college, you get to choose 2 of these three things. Athletics, academics, and a social life. You can only choose two. You'll make the right choice for you depending on what's most important.

I'm not saying you can't develop relationships with people. I'm simply saying partying on Friday and Saturday nights won't help you with your goals.
My son, a junior added 9mph in a year by long tossing. During season, a reliever can go nearly every day, a starter, 2 days after the start and only 90-100feet the day before his start.

As to speed, maybe there is a better way, but my other son went from 7.6 to 7.3 to 6.9 from end of freshman to end of sophomore to end of Junior year.

I also like the Jaeger throwing program if you can afford the trip to CA and the $400 cost. Teaches you how to long toss and how to warm up. My son said his post game arm pain was much less after following the regime.
