A friend of my son's , a '03 catcher, is looking for showcases and tryouts. During his sr, year of high school he didn't try to go play at the next level. He is an excellent student and had academic scholarships (29 on act). Now he has decided he would like to give it a shot. He is a really good ball player with a great bat. He came to me because he knew I had been through this process. I would like to see if any of you can help me out. I believe he has a good chance with a D111 or juco. I believe this kid could really be an asset to someone's program.

I will leave academic issues aside as he and his family know what he needs there.

I do know pretty much any JuCo in need of a catcher would agree to a tryout, and with Spring Break coming up he might want to check the rosters and stats of (appropriate geographically and economically) JuCos to see if they are in need, call the coaches (preferably with coach/scout references), present himself well, and see what develops.

Best of luck to him!
