Baseball coach smoked pot with students, LAPD alleges

A baseball coach at a San Fernando Valley high school smoked pot with some of his students, authorities allege.
Pedro Cruz Trujillo, 24, who worked as junior varsity baseball coach at John F. Kennedy High School in Granada Hills, was taken into custody Monday after an investigation revealed the coach had smoked marijuana with six students who ranged in age from 14 to 16 years old, the Los Angeles Police Department said in a statement.
He faces child endangerment charges.
Trujillo took the group of students to a Dodgers game May 18 and allegedly smoked with them while going to and from the event, the LAPD said.
A staff member at the high school overheard students talking about the incident and reported it to the police May 25, the department said.
Trujillo was booked on six counts of child endangerment and was being held on $100,000 bail. Additional charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor are pending, according to police.
According to The Times' Varsity Times Insider blog, Trujillo has been removed from his position.
