I always wondered why I had trouble finding teams in the Northeast who would host tournaments during the summer?

For many years, our 18U summer program would travel to Denver or Orlando or Panama City Beach or Memphis or Toledo or Evansville or Kokomo/Russiaville, etc...

As the years went on and my waist-line grew, I always wanted to find quality tournaments in the Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Connecticut areas. Now this is going back 10-12 years ago...if not longer. I figured we'd find tournaments of 8-12 teams, hosted in small town ballparks, in late June or July when the evenings are in the high 60's or low 70's, etc... I tried and I tried and I tried...I wasn't an internet guy back then.

The closest we ever got was Bayside Yankees Liberty tournament in White Plains, NY. Not exactly the small town feel I was looking for.

Have things changed? Does everyone still want to go south?

There sure is a lack of quantity here in Northeast, but there is some quality. Check out College Select's Wood Bat Tournament in Warwick, RI, or the Cape Cod Invitational June 25-27 in Nauset, MA, or the Northeast Invitational May 15-16 or July 9-11 in Worcester, MA, or the Yale University Invitational July 1-4 in New Haven, CT, or the Extra Innings Invitational in South County, RI, or the ITZ Invitational July 24-26 and August 6-8 in Portsmouth, RI.
