I read where Jarred Cosart (Clear Creek HS 2008 grad and Mizzou signee) set a new PG record by throwing 101 mph from the outfield at the PG World Showcase in Ft Myers earlier this month.

And, while I don't know if MLB outfielders get velos measured very often, would you say that Jarred might be the best outfield arm in the country at any level?

I read where he was 93 mph as a sophomore... electric arm strength!! I'd be jealous (for my son) if I wasn't so darned impressed.

Thanks.

I'm guessing there is someone who has thrown even better.

First we have to designate whether Jarred is a true outfielder. At this time he is a pitching prospect in the eyes of pro scouts.

That being the case, we know there are pitchers who have thrown over 100 mph. I suppose if one of them went out in the outfield and threw to a radar gun they might top Jarred's 101 reading.

However, I'm not expecting Jarred's PG record to be broken anytime soon. It was amazing!
My son saw Jarred throw (as a pitcher) in an invitation-only workout for a MLB club last month. So, I'm sure you're right on that most everyone considers his future workplace to be in the center of the infield.

While the PG write-up may not be complete yet, it only lists his OF velocity. Did he pitch also at the PG World? If so, I'm guessing he lit it up there too?

Thanks!
