Congratulations to all!
Must say that I don't understand all the confusion regarding the all-state lists. It appears that some had access to it early, and some thought their player or players had made it when in fact they did not. Some even went so far as to announce it to the papers who subsequently put it into print, only to find out later that they hadn't made it...

To those who made it (for real), congratulations!
Not sure what the confusion is. The All State teams were announced to several newspapers the Monday after the state finals. All players have received a letter along with the All State lists. NO players or coaches were ever told they had made it until I personally released the lists a week ago Monday. The lists above are accurate minus a couple of spelling errors that have since been corrected. Sometimes unfortunately people get the IHSBCA All-Area team and IHSBCA All-State teams mixed up. All-Area is comprised of 30 conferences in the Chicagoland area. All State encompasses the entire state. Ill be glad to answer any questions you have on behalf of our coaches association but I will not discuss individual players and why someone made t and someone else did not.
GBS,

Wasn't questioning player selections at all. I was merely asking why there was some confusion on the part of a NSC Lake Division coach, who stated to the locals that one of his players had made All-State, when in fact he had not. Are their different all-state lists? Maybe one from the IHSBCA and others from different sources? I was made aware of this one today..

but don't know who sponsors it. I had never seen "All-State Special Mention" before.

I know the Sun Times and Tribune have one. Then we have one with IHSBCA. I think most of the other ones are All Area type lists of which I know there are several throughout the state run usually by local newspapers. I didnt think you were questioning the list at all. I just wanted to make clear that I did not leak players making All State until the list went out. We used to pick the team earlier and have the kids recognized at the Finals. It has helped a lot waiting until the playoffs are over to finalize the list to try to get the right kids on there. The other All State teams had been published the week prior it seemed.
