High School Fall Ball Richmond area

Does anyone know if there is high school fall ball this year in the Richmond area? I know some schools are not playing and I wondered why? Just curious if it was a school by school choice or something else.

My son is playing on a team from another county b/c his HS is not fielding a team. It is loosely associated with the legion team (same players) from the summer. Their first game is suppose to be 9/10
