Just wondering how many kids make-up most rosters my sons school has 17 Varsity--15 sophomores--19 freshman listed on web- I am knew to high school baseball as my son is a freshman. Are these # about average?

Very, very few kids get "cut" after freshman year, they basically "cut" themselves (don't try out.)

At Waterloo, it is typical that there will be about 22-25 dressed on varsity by the time Regionals come and it has to be cut down to 22 I believe..
Anywhere between 15-20 JV players and probably 14-20 freshmen players. But all of these numbers overlap some. There will be some juniors who dress on varsity, but mainly play JV and there will be some freshmen that dress varsity if not playing a freshmen game that day.

Our student/athletic handbook sets the maximum number for our program at 54, this year we are keeping 18 Varsity, 18 on the Sophomore team, and 18 on the Freshman team. (We do not have a much needed B team yet)
I know you have to turn in a 20 man roster in for regionals, but some teams usually dress more. The limit is 20 guys though for regionals.

See I had thought it was 22, but a coach told me that the state changed the rule and made it 20. I know Libertyville took 20 this year, but in years past have token 22.
The IHSA baseball site, under Terms & Conditions, lists, for the state tournament, 22 players in team uniform and 30 officially connected with the school as noted by Gamer6:

Since we're talking about rosters here, I would be curious to hear if anyone has fewer returning varsity players from last year than Warren (3). I was unaware of this fact until I read it in yesterday's Herald.
Minooka has only 3 seniors--but I believe several juniors played varsity last year--do not know how many.
Minooka does have three seniors returning, two of which were starters for them last year.
Two juniors, Mike Foltynewicz and Jeremy Perez, played on the varsity squad as sophomores.
I believe Morris only returns 2 seniors from last years squad. Not positive on that though.

We have 0. First year of Varsity program at Lincoln Way North. Next year, Lincoln Way West will be in the same situation. Varisty this year is all Juniors and 3 Sophomores.
