BP - I am not trying to be a jerk, but FenwaySouth asked you a series of questions, of which you partially answered three. Also, I would suggest you please answer in complete sentences. We both have recently went through this process, as dad's helping our sons, and are only too happy to pass on our knowledge. But you also must help yourself.

Being from NJ, a good place to look for schools would be the state schools in New Jersey that all belong to the NJAC. They are all Division 3 schools, but it is one of the more competitive D3 conferences in the country. Have you played club ball? Have you gone to any showcases or camps to get exposure? I am sure I can help you with some of these things.

With 6.6 speed you have something to market. Assuming you can play the game a bit, I would agree, you need to get in front of people who make decisions. I would also question what and how you are writing in emails? I'm going to say it one last time, grammar.

Speaking about that, how are your grades and SAT's?
BaseballPhenom,

Okay, we have a little clearer picture but not crystal clear. Exposure has been your challenge. You have very good speed, and you bat left handed. Those are pluses that will get noticed in the right situation. If you are an outfielder you must be able to hit…no if ands or buts about it. Especially in the upcoming NCAA Baseball 2.0 environment with metal bats that hit like wood. Speed and defense will be sought after. Now, I only know of three ways to get exposure including travel team, showcase and camps. Anyone have a fourth? We're getting very late in the recruiting year for D1 schools. Most D1 schools are done with 2011s and have moved onto 2012 unless something unforeseen happens to one of their 2011 recruits. D1s are a long shot IMHO, and probably not the best use of your time.

Academic….as Birdman suggested, we need academic information which may be important because most of the schools that are in your current timetable are D3 schools. The way to play D3 baseball is mostly through Admissions…..you have to have the grades and SATS to pass academic muster. What can you share with us regarding academic history and goals? What schools were you going to academically pursue outside of baseball because application deadlines are coming up? We’ll need to see if they have upcoming camps. Have you gone to www.collegeboard.com and plugged in some financials regarding what you & family can afford? That is also an important step.

Another option is JUCO. I’ll let someone who has more JUCO experience comment and guide you on that. Have you looked into JUCO yet?

I would also read one of the threads that Vector posted called “Ultimate list of things to do at this point”. There are many nuggets of wisdom in that thread that may help you in your situation.

BaseballPhenom,

We still don't have enough info. I mentioned GPA is going to be real important. We still don't know anything about your academic goals. Others may have better suggestions to your next steps. I don't have time to guess. Hopefully your college coach can read minds and appreciates one sentence answers. Based upon what little info I know, I would do the following:

1) Go to www.collegeboard.com and create a custom college search -> college matchmaker that has all of your parameters including location, major, size, etc. This will create a list.

2) Go to www.d3baseball.com -> pick and region. You can also go to a similiar D2, JUCO or NAIA site This will create a list of schools that meet your criteria.

3) Cross reference the two lists, and start researching each school. Look at their roster to determine if you could be a candidate based on position, year, etc. Try to find out when is there next camp, get coaches phone and email. Start calling coaches.

You go find them, don't wait for them to find you. In the future, you need to communicate clearly what it is that you want, and how others can help you.
