High School Upcoming Tryouts

Schools that have a baseball class, are already evaluating players, just not able to cut yet.

My son (freshman this year) attended his high school baseball camp last summer. He had a great camp.

Also, the school is endorsing some "unofficial" camps to prepare the athletes for this season.

My question: Do you think they already have list of kids that will most likely make the team?

Good-eye, yes TAPPS area schools start the week of the 16th, with most public schools starting freshman try outs the following week.

I know Tapps is different from UIL...but you would think that UIL would allow baseball to start the same time as softball...GO COWBOYS!

Goodeye, I was wondering the same thing, because I know of schools having tryouts before that Friday, including ours. So, what I am understanding Old School to say is that tryouts can happen before January 29th as long as the cuts are after that date?

Schools can host "tryouts" whenever they wish (on the calendar) but if it is before January 29th it must be done during the athletic period. Some schools, like a school I was at previously, have all of the "baseball" kids year round and have tryouts well before the UIL date. Again, this is done during the athletic period.

Next week HS teams begin practice, TAPPS start tryouts, then......
Two weeks from tomorrow HS tryouts for incoming Freshman start, can't wait! My baseball pants are going crazy!

Hopefully, the rain will hold off this week and next, allowing field to dry out to practice and be ready to go for try-outs...
