Has anyone tried some of the protective gear currently available for batters? My son got an ulnar fracture a few weeks ago when he misjudged a pitch. Took a check swing when he should have jumped out and got blasted in the right forearm. Still was able to take a base before the coach pulled him out.

Has anyone tried the forearm guards or protective sleeves? Can you recommend a brand or style? Are they comfortable and do they effect performance? I'm looking at protective gloves as well, the ones that have armor on the wrist and knuckles. I don't see a lot of guys wearing protection at the 13u level, do they wear them in HS? These boys are starting to throw hard and I think son will feel more confident if he's not worried about getting hurt again.

I believe a more accurate question would be, "By the time players are facing mid 80's+ velocity pitching who isn't wearing protective arm gear?" They don't impact performance. It's a matter of getting accustomed to them. EVOShield is probably the most visible brand in stores.
