I found this article while doing some baseball internet searching (i.e. homework! ). The piece was originally posted in the NY Times in 2000 and is an interesting contrast of Hitters vs. Pitchers!
Thanks RHP05...interesting article. My son is a pitcher only, which is his high school coaches preference, even though he is a good hitter. At 16, I already see him beginning to develop a pitcher's only mentality. Of course it kills his dad and I that he doesn't hit any longer, but I suppose that's our problem.
I found the article interesting and entertaining also. My son has pitched and played positions since age 10 (now a college freshman), but he has always identified himself as a pitcher. Seems like it's not just something you do - it's something you are.
