I have been told for years to hit down on the ball, but the last few games it seems like all i can do is drive it into the ground.
Any suggestions on how i can correct this or what i may be doing wrong?

DON'T swing down. You need to get the barrel of the bat on the same plane as the pitch. The pitch travels at a downward angle, so you have to swing at an upward angle. You could also say your swinging level to the ball.It's about getting the ball to take off and spin backwards. Google some Major league hitters swing clips, and you'll see them line up the barrel with the ball perfectly.
This issue confuses everyone. MLB players talk about swinging down and getting on top.

Yes your swinging down during the initial phase of the swing but what matters most is that the barrel is traveling on a slightly upward plane into contact.
Just take the bathead directly to and through the ball.

Bat barrel goes back toward the catcher.....Then, the barrel gets on plane...Then to the ball.....

All great hitters do this, as it is the only way to be able to make adjustments to pitch speeds consistently enough to be a great hitter!!!!
try to get backspin on the ball like all great major league hitters..how would you do that?
