Right now I'm in a huge slump. I know what the problem is but when you're at the plate you can't think to do this and this, so I'm tryin to work on repition for muscle memory. I'm roatating my lower body 2 quick before the hands, but you need to throw your hands and the lower body follows. Does anyone have any drills to get you to throw your hands first then follow with the lower body.

thats what I used to think to when I wasn't hitting good, but actually you throw your hands at the ball followed by your lower body. If you throw your lower body first then it causes the front side to open up. Try standing in your room and twisting your back leg like in a swing. You're front side opens up losing power and you can't hit the outside pitch, along with not being able to stay back on a curveball. So I don't think you want the PROBLEM I'm having.
4luvofthegame,

It’s very difficult to make fundamental changes during the season. The reason is that your body will subconsciously revert to what is natural when you are facing real pitching.

I’d recommend doing the best you can now and when the season is over, work on the type of swing you’d like and through repetition make it your natural swing. Before you attempt to work hard to improve your swing, make sure you are working toward a solid fundamental swing similar to high level hitters.

When I and I’m sure many others hear you talk about throwing your hands and that you need to start to throw your hands and then your body will follow, we might question what kind of advice you are getting or what you think you are striving for.

As difficult as giving hitting instruction over the web is, you haven’t given people much to work with. For example, “Where are you hitting the ball primarily”, “What kind of pitches are giving you the most trouble”, etc.?

It sounds like you are saying you are swinging late? If so there are many possible problems. Perhaps if you provide more info someone might be able to help.

The one thing I am sure of, throwing your hands before you start your lower body is not the answer.

When someone comes up with something like this, I get a feeling they are thinking too much.

Best of luck.

just trying to have a convo no hard feelings sorry if my post seemed a little rude in fact i had just come off a rather ugly game myself
but i still hold on to the thought that your lower body goes first for a couple reasons
i think it actually helps you stay back on curveballs...you dont hit the ball with your legs, you hit it with your hands, and if your hands start your swing then they have to go to wherever you thought they should go according to the last time you saw the ball before they started.
now if your hips go first then you can simply hold your hands back and wait while you swing has already started.
another thing that i "think" i have learned is rather simple and that is that if you back side goes, your front side goes. So if your back side, which im assuming is where we generate our power goes, then our front side opens. you cant really stay closed and get much power from your rotation and legs. NOw some people say that you can turn your back foot and keep your front side closed, but try it and you will see, yes you can stay closed, but your hips havent moved and thus you are losing any power that you are getting from your legs. Your legs work to turn your hips, but if your hips dont turn your legs may as well not be doing anything.
And the outside pitch is another story that im kind of working on myself, but i know the faster you turn your hips, the more batspeed you generate, and the better you can hit pitches such as the outside that dont come as natural like the inside pitch.

correct me where im wrong i would take my word for much its just my opinion
