From the players I know that have gone to schools across the state of Florida, there is no hard and fast rule. Some live on and some live off campus, and it is up to the coaches desire.

I do know there was a ruling in the early 90's made by the NCAA that no dorm, wing, or floor could be made up of more than 49% athletes. NCAA claimed they were trying to mainstream the athletes in with the rest of the student body.
Depends on the school. At son's school all freshman had to live in a dorm for the 1st year. Great idea in my opinion, as it keeps the campus life paramount for the newbies, and establishes community right away. Besides, off-campus housing can be quite expensive and the boys have to go in together to afford it. Backstop is right about the NCAA rule aimed at desegregating SAs on campus, but you know what they say about birds of a feather.
